Vaishali Bansal — Senior Columnist
Vaishali is a sophomore from Pleasanton planning on double-majoring in Business Administration and Data Science. As a BRB columnist, she looks forward to exploring her interests in finance, entrepreneurship, and the complex relationship between business and community. She hopes to discover more about how businesses influence (and are influenced by) society. Outside of her work, Vaishali likes to spend her time rewatching Marvel films, trying new restaurants, dancing to her favorite Bollywood songs, and playing tennis with her friends.
Vidushee Mishra — Senior Columnist
Vidushee is a junior intending to double major in Business Administration and Data Science, with a minor in Public Policy. Her professional interests include business ethics, sustainability, and the intersection of business with both the law and policy. In addition to writing for BRB, Vidushee enjoys working at NextGen Consulting at Berkeley, Capital Investments at Berkeley, and the ASUC Legal Office. Outside of school, she loves to sing, shop, explore new places, and spend time with her friends.
Jessica is a junior from Shanghai intending to major in Economics and minor in Demography. She has a special interest in statistical representations of people’s behavior, and is passionate about understanding society through data. As part of BRB, she hopes to write about business in elements of Chinese popular culture, including lifestyles, entertainment, and online commerce. Outside of class, she enjoys classic rock, vintage fashion, and tours of museums and galleries.
Mauricio is a sophomore from Houston studying Political Economy with a focus on economic development. He writes for the community column and is especially interested in how larger macroeconomic movements affect the individual lives of people. In his free time, Mauricio enjoys playing and watching basketball, listening to drill music, and clothes shopping.
Rebecca is a sophomore intending to major in Data Science and Business Administration. Born in Canada and raised in Shanghai, she is fluent in both English and Mandarin and posseses a unique cultural lens. She likes to discover interesting phenomena in the business world and explain them in an easy-to-understand way. During her free time, she enjoys watching Youtube lifestyle vlogs, K-pop, handicraft, and exploring the Bay Area.
Rohan is a freshman intending to major in Economics and Data Science. He loves reading and writing, and joined BRB to explore topics such as business, economics, and the relationship between corporate institutions and people. Additionally, he knows way too much about cars, F1, and other irrelevant topics, and in his free time he’s probably listening to hip-hop/RnB music (especially Drake & The Weeknd), hanging out with his friends, or reading random articles.
Mehek is a sophomore from San Ramon, California studying Political Science and Public Health. She joined BRB this semester as a columnist and hopes to write pieces that focus in on the intersection between concepts within business and the societal structures within which they function. When she is not writing she loves to read fantasy novels, watch sci-fi movies, and listen to (any genre!) of music.
Jay Sahaym — Senior Columnist
Jay is a sophomore from Eastern Washington majoring in Economics and minoring in Digital Humanities and Data Science. He joined BRB in the fall of his freshman year to explore business and economic topics of interest through his writing. As a columnist, Jay is looking forward to delving into the intersection of government policy and economics along with the areas of global development, resource economics, and behavioral economics. Outside of BRB, he loves to read and enjoys playing and watching soccer, tennis, and basketball.
Shreyansh Jindal — Senior Columnist
Shreyansh is a sophomore from India intending to major in Business Administration and Economics with a minor in Public Policy. He is passionate about the business affairs relating to ESG and the intersection of economics and politics. He loves reading non-fiction, mountain biking, and playing chess and poker.
Derrick is a sophomore from Toronto studying Economics and Computer Science. Derrick has interests in international trade, empirical data analysis, and emerging technology, their impact on innovation, and analysis of their funding streams. In his free time, Derrick reads up on international news, plays Overwatch, and attempts to learn more coding languages.
Vardaan is a freshman from Jakarta, Indonesia majoring in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research. His research interests in particular include behavioral economics and market anomalies, but he is also passionate about writing pieces reviewing factors that make an impact on the greater community. Aside from business journalism, his academic interests include optimization, statistics, sports analytics, and finance. For leisure, he is an avid adrenaline junkie — adventure, water, and motor sports are all up his alley.
Andrés is a sophomore from Panama City, Panama studying Economics and Data Science. He has been an economics columnist since Spring 2022 and enjoys writing about labor economics, economic development, and macro-finance. Andrés is interested in using empirical data to prove economic theory, and tries to apply this interest to his articles. A fun fact about Andrés is that he enjoys wearing crocs to any event, whether it be hiking or coffee chats.
Ayush is a sophomore from San Ramon studying Computer Science and Cognitive Science. His hobbies include basketball, tennis, surfing, drawing, and hanging out with friends.
Peter is a junior from the Bay Area majoring in Business Administration and Political Science and minoring in German. He joined BRB as an economics columnist in Fall 2022. He is passionate about international affairs and economics and joined BRB in the hopes of writing articles about pressing current events that lay at the intersection of global politics and economics. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading Foreign Affairs Magazine, and spending time with his beloved Chow Chow.
Sabrina is a sophomore from Fremont, CA, studying Economics and Media Studies with a minor in Data Science. As an economics columnist, she is looking forward to combining her passion for journalism and business to further explore political economy and the practice of welfare economics. Outside of economics, she also loves to engage in entrepreneurship, graphic design, and modern architecture. In her free time, Sabrina can be found looking for campus squirrels, learning new art hobbies, or trying to perfect making a matcha latte.
Yewon is a freshman from Seoul, South Korea intending to major in Business Administration. Yewon is greatly interested in analyzing the shifting focus for corporations to prioritize social impact through ESG and SDG, in addition to studying startups that provide innovative solutions to social issues. As a columnist, Yewon is eager to develop insights into the evolving trends that are shaping corporates and consumer needs along with how technological innovation serves as a catalyst for economic growth.
Logan is a junior from Little Rock, Arkansas intending to major in Economics. As an economics columnist, Logan looks forward to combining his passions for writing and economics with the goal of helping educate his broader community on current events. Minh Phan — Senior Columnist
Minh is a sophomore from Fountain Valley intending to major in Business Administration and Data Science and minoring in Education. Having a passion for finance, entrepreneurship, technology, and education, Minh constantly seeks to learn and share more about the connections between technological innovation and the financial industry through his writing. During his free time, he likes to play soccer, research and do work related to architecture and interior design, collect stamps, and find new Korean movies.
Felicia Mo — Senior Columnist
Felicia is a second-year student from Fremont studying Economics and minoring in Public Policy and Data Science. She hopes to go into tax law in the future — if she can afford law school. On the business side, Felicia enjoys listening to WSJ’s Money Briefing podcast and figuring out how to not lose money on Robinhood. Outside of BRB, she can be found working at Jamba Juice, dabbling in creative writing, buying bread and boba at Sheng Kee, and giving food to Berkeley’s homeless.
Mark is a freshman from Fullerton intending to major in Business Administration and minor in Data Science. With a strong passion for finance and data analytics, Mark loves to dive deep into the world of big data, constantly seeking to analyze its impact on elevating business strategy. Outside of the professional sphere, Mark loves going to the gym, listening to hip-hop, watching horror movies, and playing sports with friends.
Meera is a sophomore from Singapore studying Economics and Psychology. She has a passion for language which she hopes to explore through the lens of financial literacy in BRB. Because of her interest in the intersection between government and the economy, she hopes to pursue a career in public policy. Outside of academics, Meera’s interests include stand-up comedy, poker, fashion, and running.
Tauren is a sophomore from rural upper northern California studying Cognitive Science and Psychology. Be it blockchain or the brain, he has a passion for delving into complex topics and teaching them to those around him. In BRB, Tauren hopes to elucidate the intricacies of modern finance — from cryptocurrency to credit cards — for the non-technically obsessed. His goal is to give everyone the base knowledge to be informed and comfortable using the best techniques and services presently available to save and spend their money.
Aaron Jun Kit Wu — Senior Columnist
Aaron is a sophomore from Beijing, China pursuing a degree in Business Administration. His passions involve finding and building methods to invest money in ways that sustain value and wealth applicable to a large proportion of the population. He hopes that his research within the investing column can yield suitable methods for ordinary retail investors to begin growing their assets. Aaron is a start-up entrepreneur who aspires to continue his passion in the U.S. Outside of his work, Aaron enjoys skateboarding and working out.
Aditi Somayajula — Senior Columnist
Aditi is a junior from Fremont pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Her interests in investing, startups, and emerging markets inspired her to join BRB. As a columnist, she looks forward to writing articles about international economics and the investing landscape. Apart from business, Aditi is also passionate about technology and informatics and their ability to deepen our understanding of medicine and biology. In her free time, Aditi enjoys reading new books, hiking in the East Bay hills, and traveling.
Danielle is a sophomore from Allegheny, Pennsylvania pursuing a double major in Data Science and Business Administration. She is a first-generation student whose involvement on campus ranges from teaching a Decal at the Haas School of Business to serving on the executive board of ULAB. Danielle shares an interest for GIS and international investment trends. Beyond academics, she is also an avid solo violinist who has performed both across the country and internationally. She has successfully started two podcasts, and enjoys sharing the unique stories of our individual experiences and perspectives. She is fluent in Russian and strives to expand her global citizenship through meaningful conversations.
Russell is a freshman from San Diego studying Data science and Economics. He has a passion for journalism and enjoys learning about anything finance-related, including blockchain, M&A deals, and the stock market. He also loves eating good sushi and pasta. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching college baseball, surfing, and running his food Instagram account. After graduation, he hopes to either attend law school or pursue a career in finance, potentially in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting.
Jonas is a German graduate student visiting as part of the Berkeley Global Access program. He is a master’s student in Business Management at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and previously completed his bachelor’s degree in Germany. His professional interests include consulting, startups, and entrepreneurship, and he has already gained experience in these areas through various internships and entrepreneurial endeavors. The opportunity to provide unique insight through a European lens inspired him to join BRB. His free time is spent enjoying soccer and discovering restaurants and coffee shops.
Nicolas is a sophomore from Los Angeles, California studying Economics with an intended minor in Data Science. This is his first semester in BRB, and he is excited to contribute towards producing thoughtful and insightful pieces that its readers can learn from. Nicolas is eager to learn more about international economics and new ways in which people are investing their money. Outside the classroom, he is a big sports fan who cheers on the Los Angeles Lakers and Rams.
